Lauryn & Brooke and Nan & Pop Go To Camp

July 1-4th, 2007 Lauryn and Brooke went to Oak Hill Christian Camp. There were 30 children that attended the camp. Gateway's Youth/Children's Pastor Amanda Brennan was camp director and did a fantastic job, keeping the kids going with lots of activities. Pastor Jon & Angie Rogers came all the way from Cornerbrook, NFLD and brought some wonderful workers, Jon's sister Katrina, a cousin (I think Stephanie) and friend Steve (who Brooke impressed with her big words).

Here's Gateway's Senior Pastor "Pastor Gord" (who tested the new "Slip & Slide" on Sat. evening before camp began), and Angie Rogers with the "big water pistol".

There were camp fires every night.

Sally Parks holding the Canada Day Cake was the main cook at camp and beside her is Sis. Harriet Garrett and below Illetta Helpert & Arlene Whittaker who are familiar faces in the kitchen.

Then there's Oreo (Pastor Jon's dog) above watching over the children as Pastor Jon spoke, and here's Amanda watching as 4 "survivors" move 100 worms from one dish to the other with their mouths.
Here is Brooke with Camp Director Amanda, and swimming in camp's pool.

This is Brooke sleeping in the motor home with Pop. She stayed in cabin #1 (picture of girls above with Mrs. Joan-Anne Matheson), but early one morning she came and joined us in the motor home. Above pic is Lauryn coming down the newly designed "Slip & Slide". The children full of mud are some of the survivors that have visited the "mud pit". The children played capture the flag, played on the trampolene, or swings, the newly designed obstacle course, had camp fire's every night and fire works for July 1st. There was a short chapel in the mornings and in the evenings. At chapel the kids learned their memory verses and earned "Kingdom Coins", learned new songs with lots of action and had a Bible lesson. Of course one of the highlights of camp was a trip to the canteen everyday. Something that became quite common at camp was a child coming with a tooth in his or her hand. The tooth fairy really does come to camp! Pictured below here is MacKenzie Tucker (who is smiling with one less tooth on the bottom) with his counsellor Steve from NFLD. He couldn't wait to tell his proud grandfather Jimmy Tucker, who was one of the grandparents who stayed at camp to oversee his grandson.

Camp was a wonderful experience for our two granddaughters and they are looking forward to next year, and seeing friends they met this year.

Grade 2 French Immersion

Farewell Ms. Lenahan! (Left)is Lauryn with her Grade 1 French Immersion Teacher who is moving to Ontario. The children loved this teacher and are really saddened to see her go. Best wishes Ms. Lenahan! Right is Coen who came to pick up his sister Carlie! Below is Meagan and friend at her desk.

Lauryn and her best friend Meagan are now Grade 2 French Immersion students! Congrats girls, really good report cards! Here they are dining at Birches (they both enjoyed a chocolate milkshake)! Meagan has plans to go fishing with her family, and Lauryn to Oak Hill Christian Camp, and then on to PEI--and the summer is just beginning.
To the left, Lauryn is sitting outside of Video Ville with her Mom. Below Carlie and Rachel say good-bye to their beloved teacher.

This pic of the girls was taken at Fundy High School Grand March they attended on Wed. evening.

The girls enjoy going to see all the pretty dresses! All except Caitlin who said it was boring and she should have stayed home with Gramps!

Great Nan (Mom) turns 85 June 16th!

The girls enjoying their blue jello for desert!

Mom turned 85 on Sat. June 16th. My sister Christena and her husband David and their grandson Joseph brought Mom to the Silver Fox "Irving" in Salisbury on Sunday. Warren & Kerry and the girls and Sydney and I met them there. Mom was very surprised, and we had a nice dinner. Afterwards (the camera lady) had to get some pics while we had the 4 generations together. Brooke was a bit wilted by the time we took the outside shot.

Brooke Finishes "I Am A Promise" Wee School

This is the I Am A Promise Wee School & Pre-School teacher Mrs. Joan-Anne Matheson. She has a special gift with children and they just love her! So do the parents and grandparents! She is amazing!

Children are an heritage of the Lord. Psalms 127:3(b)

This is Brooke's Wee School Class last Sept. 2006. On Sat. the Wee School sang 3 songs at the Graduation of the Pre-School. Brooke is looking forward to attending Pre-School with Mrs. Matheson in Sept. 2007. This is Mom & Dad with Brooke at the Graduation.

The girl on the left in this photo "Isabella Jones" received an award for being the youngest reader (she turned 4 in Jan.). Amazing!

This is the Valedictorian--Evan Were, who opted no comments when given the opportunity to say a few words.

Brooke came to our house afterwards "for a little visit" as she calls it.
Brooke and Pop look pretty sober, but we know they were having a great day!
